Strength in Unity
The Heartbeat of The POINT Resort
One of the marvellous things about the POINT Resort is how it enables us to come together as a community and embrace people outside of their daily routine. From guests’ generosity, charitable drives, lavish events, fixing problems, or simply making a newcomer feel welcome, our community continues to strengthen the POINT’s spirit as well as giving back to our other cherished communities.

Making a Difference Together

THE POINT’S FOOD BANK DRIVE
Norfolk County, just like so many places in Ontario, has many folks that need our help. All season long, The POINT collects and delivers collected donations to our local community.
WHERE DOES IT GO?
All donations are given to the Simcoe Caring Cupboard Food Bank. They provide food assistance to individuals and families in need on an ongoing, seasonal and emergency basis. The dedicated volunteers at The Simcoe Caring Cupboard allow their community to select their own food from their inventory, limiting the potential for waste.
HOW CAN I DONATE?
In the park’s Rec Hall, you will always find a Food Bank donation bin – an excellent place to put your unused food items at the end of your camping trip or near the end of the season. Please also consider picking up a few extra items at the grocery store to drop in the bin when shopping for your camping visit. We can only accept non-perishable food items. Thank you for supporting the folks in our community who can use a little help.

THE POINT’S ANNUAL TOY DRIVE
Every year, for more than a 15 years, The POINT’s generous seasonals, guests, and staff, excitedly donate tons of toys for kids in the Norfolk area. There’s everything from bikes and skateboards to dolls, and education toys. We are always blown away by the enthusiasm and generosity of our guests.
WHERE DO THE TOYS GO?
These gifts are distributed by Haldimand-Norfolk Women’s Services for the December holiday festivities. This helps not only the kids who receive the gifts, but their families as well, who will have one less thing to worry about in a stressful time. The number of toys grows every year showing our park’s commitment to support the local community in which we are situated.
HOW CAN I DONATE?
We start the big push for the Annual TOY Drive by the end of August, but you can donate anytime by just inquiring at the park office. The normal practice for giving, is to place the gifts on the stage of the Rec Hall. We will take it from there! If you are donating anything that is used, it must be in like-new condition for the agency to accept it. We also accept cash donations at the store where Park staff will go out and shop for new toys on your behalf with all the proceeds.

ANNUAL CHARITY OF CHOICE
Each year, we select a charity to support the wider LGBTQI+ community. In the past, we have partnered with organizations like Rainbow Railroad and Toronto’s PWA Food Bank, as well as local initiatives such as Delhi District Secondary School’s Gay-Straight Alliance, which provides valuable support to students in our local communities..
HOW DO WE RAISE MONEY?
We organize events to support our Annual Charity of Choice, with one of the highlights being the Annual Jockstrap Auction. Alternatively, we receive generous cash donations from our guests and seasonal visitors. This incredible generosity of our supporters inspires us to continue raising funds year after year.
HOW CAN I DONATE?
Read the park newsletter to find the events where we are raising funds or you can inquire at our office to donate directly. Any amount you are able to give is always appreciated and helps our resort contribute to the greater good. Encourage your friends to participate, or come up with ways in your groups to raise money.

CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENT
Nestled in Ontario’s Long Point Region, The POINT is fortunate to be surrounded by the Carolinian forest, a once-vast ecosystem stretching from Toronto to Niagara and Windsor. Despite its decline, conservation efforts persist, evident in the diverse flora and fauna preserved in the area. The POINT resides within The St. Williams Conservation Reserve, alongside other land conservancies and parks. Conservation of this delicate environment is paramount.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
There are some things you can do, while here, to help with this important habitat. Please stay on trails to avoid damage to the flora and fauna. Keep your pets leashed and away from animals, plants, insects and sensitive waterways. Minimize water wasting and Leave No Trace. Let’s help protect this place and let it flourish by keeping it clean and undisturbed.
HOW CAN I ENJOY THIS BEAUTIFUL REGION?
Discover the natural beauty and diversity of The POINT and its surrounding areas while learning to care for and appreciate its unique treasures. Explore a variety of trails, ranging from those starting right on our property to others just a short hike or drive away. There’s no better way to understand the importance of conservation than experiencing it first hand.
For those eager to dive deeper into the region’s ecological history, the St. Williams Forestry Farm Interpretive Centre is just around the corner. Feel free to ask our staff for guidance, and get ready to embark on your adventure!

RECYCLING & REUSING
At The POINT, we strive to preserve our little piece of paradise in its most pristine state. To minimize our impact on local landfills, we make every effort to reduce waste. We’re grateful that our visitors share this commitment and make full use of our recycling facilities.
HOW DO I RECYCLE/REUSE AT THE RESORT?
We promote composting and reduce usage while collecting all recyclable materials, including batteries and metal composites, which are donated or recycled locally. Unclaimed lost and found and reusable discarded items are donated to local charities for resale. Guests are encouraged to minimize waste and dispose of it properly.
PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN
Please bring only what you need and take home what you bring. We accept only one kitchen garbage bag of waste per site per weekend. Larger items require approval and may incur a fee. Consider donating larger objects yourself. Together, we make our community better!

VOLUNTEERING
Our community flourishes through the spirit of volunteerism and neighborly support. While the business keeps things running smoothly, it’s the contributions of volunteers and neighbours that bring the extra touch. Together, we cultivate a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, making everyone’s experience enjoyable and safe.
WHY SHOULD I HELP?
Being a part of a community is fulfilling and fun. Helping others achieve common goals and elevates The POINT. You get to know your neighbours and make great new friends. Nothing feels better than being a part of something bigger, and a pat on the back from those around you.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Take the time to connect with the people around you in the park. Many of them know how you can get involved and contribute to the community. Don’t hesitate to ask staff about volunteer opportunities or ways you can help out. If you see others decorating the pool or someone struggling with their tent, offer a hand. Not only will they appreciate your help, but you’ll also have the chance to meet new people and build lasting connections. Together, we create a stronger, more supportive environment for everyone!
